Military Criminal Defense Attorney
Representing U.S. Service Members in Every Clime and Place
My name is Raymond Beal and I am a recently retired Marine judge advocate. I am now a civilian defense counsel for U.S. service members who are facing criminal prosecution or administrative action by the military. I am highly experienced in all fields of military justice;
trial by courts-martial,
courts-martial appeals,
records corrections and discharge upgrades, and all proceedings connected with military
administrative boards.
Facing criminal prosecution under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) is a serious matter. If you are found guilty of an offense, you will receive punishment that may include imprisonment, reduction in rank, forfeiture of pay and allowances, substantial fines, and a punitive discharge. A conviction may also result in the loss of other entitlements and benefits such as pension, educational assistance or Veteran's Benefits.
The military criminal process differs significantly from the civilian criminal process. That's why you need an attorney experienced in military criminal defense work. At some point you will be appointed an active duty attorney to represent you, but that won't happen until the Government has sufficient evidence to formally charge you or you have been placed in pretrial confinement. If you are being charged or investigated for an offense under the UCMJ, you need to strongly consider retaining the services of a civilian attorney who is experienced in military justice. The benefits of representation by an experienced civilian counsel may not be warranted in every case, but it is an option you should consider carefully. I offer a free consultation so don't hesitate –
